Supplementary Angles

How to solve the angles that are supplementary: formula, 1 example, and its solution.

Formula

Formula

Supplementary angles are two angles (∠1 and ∠2)
whose sum of the measures are 180:
m∠1 + m∠2 = 180.

Unlike a linear pair,
supplementary angles
don't have to be adjacent to each other.

Solution

It says
the given two angles are supplementary.

So [4x + 92] + [6x + 38] = 180.

4x + 6x = 10x
+92 + 38 = +130

Move +130 to the right side.

Then 10x = 50.

Divide both sides by 10.

Then x = 5.

So x = 5 is the answer.
