# Volume of a Cone

How to find the volume of a cone: formula, example, and its solution.

## Formula

*V* = (1/3)*πr*^{2}*h**V*: Volume of a cone*r*: Radius of the base*h*: Height of the cone

Just like the volume of a pyramid,

this formula can be used in any cone.

(not only a right cone)

Volume of a pyramid

## Example

*r* = 3*h* = 4

So *V* = (1/3)⋅*π*⋅3^{2}⋅4.

Cancel the denominator 3

and reduce 3^{2} to 3.

3⋅4 = 12

So *V* = 12*π*.
