How to find the volume of a cone: formula, example, and its solution.

Formula

V = (1/3)*pi*(r^2)*h. V: Volume of a cone, r: Radius of the base, h: Height of the cone

V = (1/3)πr2h

V: Volume of a cone
r: Radius of the base
h: Height of the cone

Just like the volume of a pyramid,
this formula can be used in any cone.
(not only a right cone)

Example

Find the volume of the given cone. r = 3, h = 4.

r = 3
h = 4

So V = (1/3)⋅π⋅32⋅4.

Cancel the denominator 3
and reduce 32 to 3.

3⋅4 = 12

So V = 12π.
