Divide Radicals
How to divide radicals: 1 example and its solution.
Example√10xy3 / √2y
Solution
Solution (Detail)
Combine 10xy3 and 2y
in a square root sign.
So √10xy3 / √2y = √10xy3/2y.
Reduce the numerator 10 to, 10/2, 5
and cancel the denominator 2.
y3/y = y3 - 1 = y2
Quotient of Powers
So √10xy3/2y = √5xy2.
Take the squared factor, y,
out from the square root.
And leave the non-squared factors, 5 and x,
in the square root.
Simplify a Radical
So y√5x is the answer.
